• Dr. Chiou completed his DrPH at Tulane University. His research interests lie in the area of patient behavior, analyzing their reactions ranging from delays in treatment to refilling prescriptions. In recent years, he has focused on exploring the factors related to patient experience and substance abuse in high-risk groups. He investigates these health problems from the viewpoint of accessibility, efficiency, effectiveness, quality, and organizational behavior while trying to determine their social, political, and economic influences. He hopes that we can look forward to an optimal health care system that is of low cost with high quality. He has actively collaborated with researchers in several other medical disciplines, and has used large databases (such as NHI claim files) to apply appropriately health services research methodologies to several health care issues.
